Birthday No 2

WOW! Time sure flies! It was like yesterday when Cheryll was born... and now we are celebrating her 2nd birthday! I just have to pinch myself repeatedly to ensure that this is not a dream and accept the fact that she is growing.

It was a memorable day... all immediate family members were present to give her blessings and presents. The blessings... probably she didn't understand too much. But the presents... she definitely enjoyed them!

The occasion was celebrated with a dinner at our regular restaurant. The dishes ordered were not Cheryll's favourite. That's because she doesn't eat much and have no preferences yet. However, what she does like is "satay' but restaurants do not serve this.

After dinner, it's time for the birthday cake: courtesy of her aunt & uncle. The cake was specially made and it's a beauty, not to mention a gastronomy delight! When she saw us preparing the cake with candles and lighting them up, she was very excited! After setting the cake up, we started singing:

Happy Birthday To You
Happy Birthday To You
Happy Birthday To Cheryll
Happy Birthday To You

It was amusing to see that she realised we were singing the song for her and immediately started to slide down her chair. We can see less and less of her and by the last note, she was only peeking up as only her head is visible. We had to carry her up and seat her properly again. The moment cake was cut, she was back to her usual self again... no longer shy.

All in all, it was a joyous occasion. It is truly a blessing as she is showered with so much love and affection from all of us. Weeks after her birthday, she will still sing "Happy Birthday" and I believe that is because the event is etched deeply into her mind.

Days With No Camera

In this era, nobody is without a camera. This gadget is available cheap and also present in most mobile phones. It has become such a convenience that the passage of our lives are substantially recorded via images with this wonder.

Looking back, pictures of Cheryll are in abundance since her birth. My lovely wife loves to take photographs of her. We can actually see her growth in these pictures. The bad news is: my trusty camera which has been in service since November 2002 has finally decided to quit on 28 February 2007.

We were in Kota Kinabalu then. It was unthinkable that we wont be able to capture our memories here. Luckily, my sister-in-law was able to lend us her brand new sparkling camera. Until today, I am shopping for a new camera. Nothing has caught my fancy yet but I am sure something will turn up.

Until then, here are some pics taken in KK. The next time I post some pictures will probably be from my new camera or my phone's camera. Enjoy!
